This is significant to me.

The last time I saw my mother she told me that the reason I was so smart was because I used to love Sesame Street. She wasn’t completely there at the end, so thoughts drifted in and out. But it stuck with me.

Thinking of how many children were enriched by this show, and by this character…it gives me chills. Happy chills.

Thanks, Sonia, for being Maria. Know that you have done a great thing with your life. And know that you will be missed.
