The Simple Barrier to the Rich Being Willing to Pay More Taxes
Waste and irrationality.
I think many among the rich would be far more willing to pay a larger portion in taxes if they believed it would help. They don’t believe it would, and I don’t either.
San Francisco and California in general are good examples of this. We pay top-end taxes yet San Francisco is riddled with potholes, there is trash everywhere, the homeless own the place, and the place generally feels dysfunctional.
There’s no evidence that more tax money will do anything other than go into the void that the current funds are going. It’s infuriating, really, to walk around San Francisco and see it basically falling apart.
Where is all the money going?
