People frequently ask my why I blog, and/or how I have kept doing so since 1999. Here’s my answer in the form of a letter I just received from a reader:
Dear Mr. Miessler,
I just wanted to thank you. Even after reading the bible, being preached to by my Catholic mother, and hearing references to god my whole life I NEVER felt comfortable talking about religion, thinking about it, praying, or hearing about, even though I knew nothing else. I couldn’t understand how a book could make excuses for everything and take credit for everything good.
After reading all you’ve written it helped me to free myself from religion. And it truly is freeing. It’s nice to no longer fear something I cant see or hear. It’s cost me some relationships, but it’s so worth it.
Thank you,
Kimberly (last name withheld)
This is why I write. Thank you, Kimberly, for making it tangible.
