The question of how to attain happiness is one of the most timeless and important questions in human history. There are thousands of theories on how to pursue it, and I’m curious about the similarities the meta-studies have found.
So based on reading many of these over the years, here is my latest model for human fulfillment, based around two concepts:
- Giving Love
- Adding Value
So here they are, with some common activities under each:
Giving Love | Adding Value |
---|---|
Give to charity | Create things that other people use |
Give unconditionally | Give talks |
Help your family | Write books |
Help your friends | Start companies |
Be positive | Create tools |
Reward positivity | Make things with your hands |
Tell people how great they are | Build things that produce delight |
Love people. Add value to the world.
That’s it.
I believe that if you focus on these two things, you will automatically check the thousands of other boxes that produce happiness in other ways.
Notes
- I’d love to hear other activities I can put into each of the two sections.
