With Technology, Remember What Matters

September 16, 2014

It’s the time of year for me to get religious about my technology platforms. Mobile operating systems, web stacks, whatever. When the iPhone comes out I think a lot about consolidation, optimization, and talking about those things with much zeal.

And that’s fine, but it’s important to keep it at the scale it deserves.

Just remember that it doesn’t matter what you use—only what you do.

We should all respect infinitely more the guy who uses the latest Blackberry and blogs on Geocities if he produces more good content than the guy who has nothing to say or offer but has the latest iPhone and blog stack.

Let this be a time to ask not what you build things with, but instead what you build.

supporting = loving

For 29.4920 years I've been creating ad-free technical tutorials and essays here. 3,039 pieces and counting.

It's a one-person effort that's also my livelihood. If it makes your day easier or more pleasant in any way, please consider supporting the work with a monthly or one-time donation.

It helps me make more content, and is deeply appreciated as well. 🫶🏼
