I agree completely with this.
I think what Tim Cook has done with OS X and iOS 8 is not just on par with Jobs, but surpasses him.
These Messages features, combined with the Continuity stuff—just brilliant.
Like most things of this nature, they’re understated and easily ignored. I expect this won’t be the case anymore in 2015 when people realize how powerful these features are when wrapped in great design.
