I just did the unthinkable: I uninstalled iTerm2.
Why? Because I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite, and unless there are extremely compelling reasons to do otherwise, I prefer to use the defaults.
zsh instead of
bash, and have been using iTerm instead of the default terminal for years now. But the new terminal.app seems more competent somehow.
Also, one of the main reasons to use iTerm2 over terminal.app is split windows, and that’s not something I do much of. When I want to do that I use
Anyway, we’ll see how long this lasts, but I’m hoping more and more of the default OS X applications can meet my needs. Simpler is better.
- This decision was helped by the fact that
gitwas broken in iTerm2 in Yosemite, while it wasn’t in terminal.app. Again, simplicity is the best option when possible.
