First, the situation is ironic because hip hop saggy jeans are worn by those are attempting to show how tough they are. The fact that the fashion statement comes from those who want to be buttfucked is ironic. Consider more schooling.

Second, this fact is widely known. The fact that you can’t find support for this by cursory web searches supports my first recommendation. But perhaps I should have included a source of support.

Might very well be true, but a lot of this type of stuff also turns out to be folklore. I’d ask for a more authoritative source where I can at least tell what kind of effort went into the research. But, even the Urban Dictionary site has another derivation:

makes sense that the belts were not allowed in prison. Hip hop is about taking the disadvantages n making them cool. Pants didnt fit without belts…..so they came back with saying we dont need belts. Chains were used in slavery…..so now bling is back at your face. you just cant beat it. Say what you want. I dont like hip hop…but its big
