Hip Hop is Gay: The Irony of Saggy Pants

Everyone knows that the hip hop culture has popularized the saggy pants phenomenon. Few people know how it came about. Perhaps if these guys knew how it started they’d be less inclined to participate.

The sagging pants behavior comes comes from prison.  It indicates that one is available for anal sex. Men started making their “women” do this to symbolize that they were owned and available. Somehow through the perversion that is hip hop culture this made it out to the real world as cool behavior.

Keep this in mind the next time you see some hapless fool with his pants falling off. It’ll improve your day.:

[ Update: Snopes says this is false, and that the myth comes from ill-fitting clothes in prison and not from anything sexual. Interesting. I tend to trust Snopes' research, so count me among those who fell for it. ]

    since youre too dumb to know the definition of the word irony, I doubt that this is very credible, unless you happen to know about the subject from personal experience in which i acquiesce to your unsavoury knowledge

    First, the situation is ironic because hip hop saggy jeans are worn by those are attempting to show how tough they are. The fact that the fashion statement comes from those who want to be buttfucked is ironic. Consider more schooling.

    Second, this fact is widely known. The fact that you can't find support for this by cursory web searches supports my first recommendation. But perhaps I should have included a source of support.

    Might very well be true, but a lot of this type of stuff also turns out to be folklore. I'd ask for a more authoritative source where I can at least tell what kind of effort went into the research. But, even the Urban Dictionary site has another derivation:

  • I thought the baggy pants were a combination of ill-fitting clothes and absence of strings (preventing suicide)
