What happens when Uber starts delivering packages?
FedEx and UPS and the Post Office obviously have a lot of experience, and a lot of intellectual property, around doing deliveries.
But they only have so many people. People who make a lot of money.
What if there were tens of thousands of people in a big city available at any given moment to deliver anything anywhere? And what if they were the same people who could give rides?
In other words, what is the difference between the Uber app as it exists today and an Uber Delivery app? Why couldn’t drivers move things just like they move people?
The core concept here is a swarm. It’s a mass of people who are capable of doing things, and you have a tech layer in the middle that manages their assignment, payment, and quality.
This is disruption exemplified.
