So I just got a new MacBook Pro. It’s the 2.8 Ghz model with the 512MB 9600 GT NVidia card and the matte screen. But that’s not the cool part. The best part of it is that I put a 256GB Corsair SSD drive in it.
OFMG, this machine is sickening fast. You manipulate the interface and things happen. It’s that simple. I copied a 700MB Ubuntu image from a USB drive to my hard drive–not really as a test, but because I was doing it anyway–and it popped. It took like 5 seconds to transfer.
So, yeah, highly enthused about the new laptop. Plus I’m getting to use it for work (which also got me a corporate discount on the purchase itself). I can load up like 3 VMware images simultaneously and feel zero lag on it. Stunning.
Related to this, I’m now selling a 24″ iMac if anyone’s interested. Works great, no marks on the screen–generally works like when I got it a year and a half ago. Let me know if you’re interested. ::
