Fluid is a great concept. You take your favorite web applications and turn them into actual Mac applications. This means you can do things like minimize them, fullscreen them, put them in the dock, launch them from your favorite launcher app, etc.
The two apps I did it on are Feedly and Chartbeat. Consuming these resources as applications rather than web tabs has a couple of advantages:
- I can use my browser for purely temporary tasks now, i.e. keep my tab count to the bare minimum, or even zero.
- While in the browser I no longer have to fight the temptation to go check out the latest happenings in my RSS reader, or with my web server speed stats—because now they’re separate apps.
Very slick. Thanks to @tbwolfe for the heads up. He blogged about it as well.
