Just had a random idea for a science fiction story:
A man and woman are explorers together out at a distant location, and they are deeply in love. There is a horrible accident at some point, and the woman dies. It turns out, however, that they can restore a copy of her that was saved (think Star Trek transporter), but the copy being restored is a younger version–from before she loved him.
They then continue their mission, but with him having to start the relationship all over again–if she’ll accept him–while she only knows that this man acts very strangely towards her. At some point, a major point, in the film, she learns about the love they shared, and is overwhelmed by the loss that he has experienced, but at the same time sees that love as belonging to two separate people.
