Social Networks
My primary social networks are Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
I treat Twitter as a means of following interesting content-creators and getting real-time news. My posts there are mostly of the value-add variety with some personal activity content thrown in, such as music I'm listening to, or books I'm reading.
I use Facebook in a relatively limited way and don't have a mentality of "collecting friends" there. As such, the purpose of linking to my profile here is mostly to re-connect with people from my past.
I connect to people on LinkedIn who 1) I have interacted with to some degree and would want to do business with in the future, or 2) have done work I am familiar with and would be comfortable contacting. As with Facebook, I tend to keep my connections relatively minimal so that I never find myself in the "who is this again?" situation.
