Work in a Post-Jobs World | CNN

The recluse will love this world. Others not so much.

My brother worked for a place that went to a forced work from home in order to cut down on rent costs. They figured it was cheaper for them to pay for the expense of broadband internet than it was to pay for building costs.

He hated it. He needs the social interaction on a relatively daily basis. The feeling that you are part of a team, not just on some isolated island.

I get that, but personally I like the idea of working from home. I am more productive in my work and home life. I don’t mind using I.M., Facebook/Google+, telephone (or skype, though I don’t), and e-mail for communication.

But every now and then, getting together with a group of people and working through problems in a face to face matter.. Shaking someone’s hands. Patting someone on the back. It has more meaning then simply saying: hey, great job
