Why Politics Depress Me

All this energy I have behind Obama–all this emotional capital–and the dumbass still thinks he can go into Pakistan and kill people if Pakistan is “unwilling” to do so? All this while Pakistan is being very clear that they’re going to start attacking Americans if they come over the border?
How many fronts do we want to start up here?
But that’s not the worst one. The whole thing with Russia and Georgia is sickening. Russia didn’t even attack Georgia until after Georgia went in and started destroying South Ossetia.
Georgia started that war. They rolled into South Ossetia and started tearing shit up. The South Ossetians pleaded for Russian help, and Russia came in and regulated. Sure, it’s true that this plays into Russia’s hand in terms of expanding their power, but that’s kind of peripheral to the fact that Georgia is the one that started the conflict in the first place.
But both McCain and Obama are participating in an alternate reality where Georgia was just sitting there being a good little democracy and the evil Putin swooped in, under the cover of the Olympics, to annex a country like Hitler.
It’s a sad time when someone who publicly denies the truth is the candidate that I am forced to support due to the hideousness of the alternatives. Ah, but what about Ron Paul! Right, the guy who doesn’t believe in the “theory” of evolution and wants to abolish the FDA and let the “community” create advocacy groups to go against the teams of corporate lawyers. Sure, another great guy with awesome ideas who has flaws so massive that they disrupt Jupiter’s orbit.
I’m really close to just reading the Harry Potter series–start to finish–and playing some Warcraft until December. The whole thing is just a depressing sink hole of emotional energy.:
