I'm still rooting for FF. In 6-12 months Chrome will be better. But in 6-12 months FF will be that much better as well. I don't think FF users will be missing anything. FF 3.5 is due out in a few months and is supposed to be a great release. It will most likely rival some of the performance features of chrome, safari and IE8. FF for the win.

I am heavily anticipating the release of the Linux version. The two big things that any browser would need to fully win me over from Firefox, on top of just being a better browser is the equivalent of adblock and customize Google.

Agreed, they've had some failures as well. I would say, however, that Orkut is a different beast than Chrome because it's pretty hard to get "into" a social network for a user. You have to invite all your friends and hope they stay, etc. It's difficult.

With a browser, however, you can pretty much dabble and dip as desired without relying others to do the same.

I agree that Google can fail, I'm just saying I think the browser space is one are I think they can and will thrive. And I'm definitely not arguing that they're a contender now; they're way too early for that (they must have plugins to even compete).

This is a prediction for like 6-12 months from now.

I agree with you on some parts. I also think you are missing the failures. Lets take a look. Do you remember Orkut? While I like the browser, I am not sure it is fully baked. No themes and plugin support. These are major issues.
