Being meek and humble accounts for a large part of Jesus' teachings. Living that life style is rather difficult IME.
In the church I grew up in we often discussed the high bar that Jesus sets for us and how poor of a job we do coming close to those expectations.

I never respond to these things but I just wanted to say something concerning this. The entire point of this passage is to warn Christians not to pray for their own benefit in the eyes of others. In Christian circles often someone who makes these long, elegant prayers is looked up to as a deeply spiritual person. This was true of the Pharisees in Jesus time, they would pray out in the open so everyone could see their holiness in action.

Matthew 6:6 isn't an all encompassing instruction to prayer but rather a description of the attitude that one should take into prayer. It is certainly better to pray in a closet just between you and God than to stand in front of people and do it for all the wrong reasons.

You seem to be trying to say that this is an inconsistency in a modern Christian's prayer life. Since you can take any verse out of the bible and have it mean whatever you want out of context this makes sense. However if you take the time to understand the nature of prayer in it's greater context this won't seem to be out of place.
