What Jesus Really Looked Like

Why I know That There is a God and That He Loves Me

A Personal Testimony.

Allow me to share a story. Not too long ago doubt was creeping into my head about the Lord and then a miracle happened.

It was 3 years ago and 50 members of my church were enroute to a bible camp in the Blueridge Mountains of Virginia. They were traveling in a chartered bus. As they sang hymns, Satan was up to his old tricks. You see, the bus driver was an atheist alcoholic socialist and that day he was filling his coffee mug with vodka. As the bus wound up through the switchbacks, the driver became progressively drunker. Then it happened. It was that day that changed this poor sinner's life forever. Entering a particularly tight switchback, the besotted driver finally lost control of the bus and it plummeted 1500 feet down into a ravine where it exploded into a fireball incinerating the flock. The only survivor that fateful day was a young boy who was thrown from the bus by his father seconds before it hit the bottom.

This young boy suffered severe brain damage from hitting a rock head first and will have to wear a football helmet and drool cup for the remainder of his life. But his survival proved to me that miracles do happen because God does exist and loves me. The Lord used that accident to bring me back to his flock.

Hallelujah!

Praise Jesus! Just open your eyes to his miracles and you will see them everywhere.

Am I supposed to care about his looks? Give me Aristotle's visage, or Socrates', or Plato's, or Virgil's, or Julius Ceasar's unembellished image, all on a common day, naked to fascist judgement. Are we supposed to reject their contributions under the same assumption, or is it inclusive only to religious or Christian based context?

Let's say this was a picture of Joe Cocker or Bob Marley, people who made a career out of looking freshly woken up, in an era of access to hygiene resources. Did people disapprove of or dismiss the music of Joe Cocker or Bob Marley because of the way they looked?

Or, is it because of your view of Christians that they must be fascists that compels you to ask this, on the assumed premise that they, being religious, are shallow and therefore do not take things at more than face value?

I wonder, in a question directed at people of all denominations, if we had not known Einstein, and he took his long walks, as he did, would we assist him in directing him home if he asked for it, old and confused as he might have looked?

Or is this an indictment of our societal values as a whole, not being much evolved beyond Nazis, would we all sneer at a hooked nose, or brown skin, or blacker hair?

Let' say that Christians would say “No.” to your question. What is your proposed reason as to why?

You can’t say that Jesus looks like that because in the Bible it clearly states:

“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God…” -Exodus 20:4,5″ And also

“I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” -Isaiah 42:8

He 2nd of the ten commandments clearly prohibits and warns us NOT to BOW DOWN to any graven image. God in the 2nd commandment even goes as far as to warn us against bowing down to the likeness of anything in HEAVEN OR EARTH.

You cant go around telling people Jesus looks like this or The Most High looks like that because you are disobeying the Bible and the word of God.
