What I Want to See in iPhone 2.0

I am still very happy with my first generation iPhone, but I can’t wait to upgrade. Here’s a short list of things I hope it has, sorted by “mandatory” and “would be nice”. These are in addition to the things we already know are in the 2.0 software release.

Mandatory

  1. Video Recording
  2. True GPS (to supplement the GeoLocation)
  3. Battery Life (At least as good as the current generation)
  4. Better Camera (4MP minimum, 6MP would be excellent)
  5. iChat
  6. MMS
  7. Copy and Paste
  8. 16GB-32GB of Storage

Would Be Nice

  1. Flash
  2. File System Access / Browser
  3. A QUERTY shortcut option on the Contacts menu (autocomplete)
  4. Video Chat (rumored; would be nice)
  5. Voice Recording
  6. Text to Speech / Speech to Text
  7. TV Show Purchases / Rentals through iTunes
  8. Bluetooth Sync
  9. Wireless Calendar Sync with Google Calendar
  10. Bluetooth Keyboard Functionality
  11. 64GB of Storage

What are the features you want to see?

    Wouldn’t video chat require that the camera pointed to the face of the camera? Wouldn’t that make using it as a camera or video recording device difficult? I can just about guarantee that they’re not going to put any moving parts on it. I suppose they could have two lenses for the camera, but I seriously doubt it. Actually, video chat would be cool, and I’d be OK if they replaced ALL camera features with it. I just don’t get wanting ti capture 4 or 6 MP of information with a tiny phone-camera lens. The pictures wouldn’t be significantly better than the current ones. If you want to take quality pictures or video get a camera or video camera.

    I have my own list of things I want to see:

    1. Some scale information on the maps.
    2. The ability to view location pins for our own list of things (like a set of contacts or all contacts). This would be at least as useful as being able to see seafood restaurants.
    3. Some scale information on the maps. (Seriously, the maps would be MUCH more useful.)

    Actually, the dual lenses is the rumor. :)

    Good point about being to have permanent contact anchors within the map app.

I might not need to bring a laptop with me. Infrared – for exchanging contacts with other phones and so I can use my iPhone as a universale remote. More options in iTunes for syncing photos A bigger video selection dialog in iTunes Nike+ compatibility (I read this will probably be in 2.0) Flash storage adapter so I can backup photos from my digicam Integrated taser (just kidding)
