-One of the richest men in the world but still lives in the small $300K house he bought when he got married. -drives a buick -orders hambergers when invited to a top restaurant. -currently giving away his fortune (billions) to charities -pledges to give it all away.

He doesn’t live for flash, glory, or self interest, he just likes to do the best he can. I’m not saying you need to vote how he does, but I do not think his endorsement of Obama is for “selfish reasons” and “personal greed”.

You might want to commend the man for being willing to endorse someone who will cost him hundreds of millions in cap gains tax and income tax, but who he feels will be best for the country. If all the wealthy people looked out for you like that you’d probably be better off.

By the way I’m a Republican who has never voted for a Dem and I’m voting for Obama even though it will cost me lots of money (I’m one of the lucky people in the top 5% of income that will get a tax increase under Obama–the 95% other will get a tax cut on my back).

Think about what you’re saying. Buffet makes money when stocks go up. A good economy makes stocks go up. Isn’t a good economy beneficial to all of us as well as Buffet.

In that case we can just have him choose our leaders every year. Even better, we can have a table of three and put his buddy Rothschild, and Rockerfeller. You know Buffett took Schwarzenegger to go see Rothschild before he won governorship. So they do have a knack for picking. I love this idea, we can all give up our right to vote so these guys can make the right decision. They are of course smarter than us since they made so much money.

I wasn’t promoting giving up your own opinion; I was promoting the idea of re-evaluating why you didn’t come to the same conclusion as Buffet. There’s a big difference.

To put it another way, both data and judgement go into making a big decision like this, and those decisions should always still be made independently. But the question is, which of those do you as a voter think you’re superior to Buffet on? The information you have available to you to make your decision? Or your ability to properly make the decision with the data?

And if you don’t think you’re better off in one or both of those areas, and you differ with Buffet, could it be because HE has better information or better judgement?

So the idea isn’t, “Forget about why Buffet chose Obama and just pick him because Buffet did.” That’s stupid. The idea is to seek out the reasons that Buffet went with Obama, and then re-evaluate your own decision within that new context.

Yeah, ok. I’m game for that. Hell, I wish old Buffet would make a lot of decisions for me.
