The VP Debate: The Mother of Double Standards
By Daniel Miessler on October 3rd, 2008: Tagged as Obama | Politics

I watched the whole debate and have been observing the reaction to it from voters and pundits. Most are calling it a tie, and I’m absolutely fucking appalled.
Palin got absolutely destroyed on pretty much every issue. She did nothing for her platform or her party. She supposedly did “well” because she “came off well” and was “likeable”. Basically, she didn’t look like a complete idiot the way she has been for the last couple of weeks–hence she “exceeded expectations”.
Are you kidding me? Is that the standard? To not look like you’re completely unqualified? Are we forgetting that this was a battle of policies? Her policies, and those of McCain, got completely crushed by Biden. Completely. All her claims on Iraq. All her talk of McCain being a maverick. She was just completely owned.
But she was pretty, and she was spunky, and she was personable. In short, Palin did horribly for her party, and for McCain, and for America, but she did well for her own personal image.
And this is a tie?
It’s really sad when a bible-thumping beauty queen can get absolutely trounced in a debate but people think she “handled her own” because she didn’t fall off the stage or burst into tears.:
