Article: The Small Failures of the Web

A buddy of mine has written an excellent piece on why websites often fail. It’s called The Small Failures of the Web, and here’s an excerpt:
I use the web daily to read things from people all over the world, but rarely do I turn an eye to sites for local businesses. I’m an above average web-savvy kinda guy, and I suspect that most people reading this article are, too. So why is it that we could care less about what our local restaurants, stores, and service providers have to say to us online? Surely if they’re not reaching the more experienced users in the community they probably aren’t reaching the less so, either. A quick survey of local sites left me depressed. Did south Georgia miss out on something, or is this an epidemic? What happened to the little guys? Broken links, updates missing for the last 3 years, bad interface design…why did they fail on the web?
