The Only Safe Way to Drive is to Abstain from It

Yeah, I feel like agreeing with you on this one.

A couple of months ago I was out with my uncle driving his bike alone while he stood by, watched me and gave me instructions and some tips.

We were all about doing it safely and properly, I wore a helmet and didn't try to show off by doing a speedy ride. I was just learning and wanted to get a grasp on how the machine works and how it feels while handling it.

Well, someone called in cops and I almost got fined and had my name on a list of criminals.

Their argument was that according to the Law I'm not allowed to learn to drive a vehicle of any kind unless I can on paper that I'm not mentally unstable AND the person who teaches me has got to have a license for that.

Plus, we're not supposed to do the actual driving in the adjoining road area, which was really an empty lot. Not a vehicle was there, not a single one drove in while I was on the top of a bike.

After a long talk and explaining that it was just a family attempt to teach and learn driving a bike quite responsibly – the cops saw me wearing a helmet when they pulled over and I stopped immediately as they gave a me sign to do so – the cops eventually let us go giving a blind eye to the incident.

The situation itself got me thinking about the unnecessary complexity imposed by official law regulations in place.

The post was mostly about conservative objections to teaching safe sex.

Jee, now that you mention it I see it. It's 10PM over here right now and I got up at 5.30AM. I guess I was a little tired to notice what the text was really about lol.
