The Onion

The story is meant to be a joke, but it reflects a real problem in Nigeria. My dad once told me something that I believe to be true:

“Poverty starts with the ignorance of the fact that sex leads to babies.”

Poverty levels in Nigeria are horrid… so what do the people do to make themselves feel better? They have lots of sex, which leads to more babies, which leads to more poverty, and the cycle starts over again.

Perhaps another sad fact is that so many of these children are born with HIV or some other equally nasty disease.

Personally, I think the world would be better off if we sterilized half the population… but then we’re jumping onto a slippery slope that could lead to another Holocaust.
