The Democrats Are Self-Destructing

The more I read the more I think we’re going to end up with McCain in January. For one thing I not-so-secretly worry that he’s going to be massively helped by a last-minute “vote for the white guy” effect. It’s sad that I feel America is capable of such a shallow action, but I think it is.
Then you have the infighting between Obama and Clinton that is just making matters worse. This NYT article sums it up nicely:
Meanwhile, the big winner of the Democratic fist-fighting is Senator McCain. A Gallup poll released Wednesday found that 19 percent of Mr. Obama’s supporters said they would vote for Mr. McCain in the general election if Mrs. Clinton were the nominee. More startling, 28 percent of Mrs. Clinton’s supporters said they would defect to Mr. McCain if Mr. Obama were the nominee.
Exit polls show the same trend. In South Carolina in January, about 70 percent of each candidate’s supporters said they would be happy if the other person ended up winning the nomination. By the Ohio and Texas primaries in March, fewer than half of each candidate’s supporters said they would be content with the other person as nominee.
Great, that’s the story of the democrats: all these great ideas but too weak to get anything done. We, as a country, deserve what we’re about to get if we vote for McCain. Just like we’re responsible for what Bush has done. I secretly want McCain to get elected so that he’ll start another war, spin up the draft, and cause total mayhem.
It might be worth it just to get the mouthbreating republicans to figure out that the Bush/McCain approach doesn’t work.:
