The Best Theist Debater I’ve Ever Seen

Dinesh D’Souza is an awesome debater. Very compelling.
Of course, his first argument here was incredibly amateur: he marvels at how matter could possibly obey laws. But of course, matter doesn’t obey laws–laws are created by man to describe how matter behaves in nature.
This line is part of the ever-popular “isn’t it amazing that if ANY variable were different in physics, we wouldn’t exist as we do today?” argument. Compelling, but completely specious.
Many believers are apparently surprised that “the seemingly arbitrary constants in physics are precisely the values needed for the universe to produce life”. This is rather like a puddle being impressed by the perfect fit of its pothole. — Leopold
In other words, yes, of course life wouldn’t be the same if the constants were different, but that’s the same argument a puddle makes about its exact shape and volume within a pothole.
If the universe were any different, I wouldn’t be exactly the shape of this pothole! It’s PERFECTLY designed for me!
No. You’re perfectly designed for the pothole. ::
