Here in Florida we spend probably million on education research. These researchers then take their finding and present them to the Governor and legislature and make recommendations. Those in charge then take the opposite of what was recommended and then apply it. Why? Because what research shows works, and what is politically expedient are two different things.

Even with my kids in charter school, I can't say I'm impressed with the system.

Things have changed since we were in school. They are being made slower and dumber and less challenged than we were.

And the bleedover from the reversal of rewarding achievments from the regular schools is taking a toll on all other types of insitutions.

Granted, I grew up in a rather large part in a catholic school, which I put in the category of charter schools.

However, my personal experience in actual charter schools, of this day and age, has a lot of room for improvement.

(Perhaps it's just the California mentallity.)
