&lt;p&gt;$3k tax break for new jobs in the USA - this means more push for H1B visas.  This actually works in favor on the companies in many cases because overseas engineering groups are more difficult to deal with than in-house.  This doesn&#039;t get more americans working necessarily.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;$10k from retirement accounts - it&#039;s a really big assumption that people will use this money to pay off debt.  That&#039;s giving way too much credit to people who spend beyond their means now.  If people were responsible, we could get rid of social security and people would not pull their money out of their 401k&#039;s when changing jobs (many do).&lt;/p&gt;
