    I think of these services as replacing homepages. Before Friendster, those of us tech savvy enough made our own homepage. When we wanted to broadcast information about ourselves to others, we'd update our homepage.
    Few people today have homepages like we knew them. Today we create a Facebook account and then link our other social services to them via RSS/Atom feeds.
