Saudi Arabia is the Worst

Most Americans (and probably westerners in general) tend to group Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, etc. all into one bucket in terms of how different they are value-wise.
That’s a mistake.
Iran, for example, is in many places almost as modern and forward thinking as the United States or England is. You have women walking around wearing attractive clothing, shopping and talking on their mobile phones. They are intelligent, educated and fashion conscious — just like young women in western countries. Similar things can be found in other Muslim countries, to varying degrees.
But not in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia is the country that people are actually talking about when they make stereotypes about all of the other muslim countries. In other words, the extremism of the stereotype just isn’t true in most of the other places, but it usually is in Saudi Arabia.
Here’s a charming story about just how warped their moral system is. Yes, I said “warped” instead of “different”. I’ve grew out of my absolute moral relativism stage when I was in my 20′s.
It’s a quick read; check it out.
