Ron Paul Thinks Evolution is Just a Theory

“But he is so completely illogical in a number of areas of abortion, evolution, etc. (for religious reasons, mind you) that despite his areas of brilliance I couldn’t possibly support him for any position with wide-ranging powers.”

I think this is an unrealistic prejudice. No president has been effective at enacting legislation based on their religious beliefs.

I'd say it's foolish to risk it.

So if he did not believe it for other reasons would that make it ok?

No. There's no good reason to not believe it. But religion is pretty much the only reason people come up with.

I don't know if I would rule him out as a president, but I am amazed at how many religionists there are in the ranks of austrian economists, because austrian economics uses logic as its main tool of analysis.

I think the title of the post is misleading. Evolution is “just” a theory. It is, however, backed up with butt loads (that's a scientific term BTW) of evidence supporting it.

That doesn't change that Ron Paul is and has been a nut job, right up there with a certain consumer advocate who ran for prez a few times.

It's a theory the way scientists use the word, not the way Dr. Paul used it. It is, in other words, a theory. But it's most definitely not, “just a theory”.
