The sad part about it, from a Republican point of view, is that their xenophobia is really harmful to themselves. In my personal observation, a large percentage of minorities have very conservative values. The racists in the Republican party push these otherwise conservative minorities into the Democratic party.

this will probably come as a shock to you but the republicans do not have a lock on stupidity, racism, corruption,... the democrats do just fine all by themselves. actually, since the democrats have control now, I bet there are more corrupt/stupid/racist democrats in office than republicans.

However, I ask you, Daniel, what would you call a person whose political viewpoints urged such jokes as pertaining to the rape of the 14 year old daughter of a republican by a steroidal millionaire sports celebrity? Surely you must have a categorical denomination for Letterman.

Hero of the people? Worthy of a medal? Let's hope not.

The climate these days is already too thick with death threats against those with opposing viewpoints. This just adds fuel to the fire.

Are there Racist republicans? Sure. Are there racist Democrats?

Whisper carefully. This climate triggers so easily by the wrongly spoken truth.

So, let's give more weight and airtime to this man, who in jovial attitude offered a rather stark raving un-PC joking response, highlighted in absurdity.

Again, in infamy, another hero to his own enemy, a poster child against his own party. Damned if I can remember his name, and damned if I'll bother scrolling up to look at it. This man poses no threat to me, and is rather impotent unless regarded as comedy.

If you break down the GOP demographics. Old White Male (55+) is the largest demographic. It just so happens that these are the same people in charge of the GOP. Not to say all old white GOP males are racist but many dixiecrats fit this criteria. You're definitely pointing out that the loudest part of the GOP seems to exude to most ignorance of the GOP too.

Actually, it was AFTER the historic Civil Rights Act passed that the more overt racists and segregationists began leaving the Democratic Party in the South en masse. Those who voted for and against the Civil Rioghts Act came from both the Dems and the Repubs at he time. The breakdown occured along the lines of Conservative and Liberal. Dixiecrats, always useless assholes, were dead set against it. And after they bolted the party in 1964, where else could they go?
