NYC Crime Visualizations

This seems like one of those landmine subjects that requires a 40 foot pole to touch, apparently planted to see who is a racist.

And it's infectious. Not only is mentioning, or referencing (even linking) this data a potentially racist act, but the data is racist too, as it's “impossible” to see how this information can present certain races in any better a light than others.

But I'll take this one step further, and note where some statistics is likely to be missing, but can be guessed at from the preponderance of two stats. Black perpetrators account for an averaged 60%, while black victims account for an averaged 60%.

    So, I link this:

    “BLACK ON BLACK CRIME STATISTICS”
    (from here: http://www.hhscenter.org/bonbstat.html )

“While African Americans comprise 13.5% of the U.S. Population, 43% of all murder victims in 2007 were African American, 93.1% of whom were killed were (by?) African Americans.”

“Victimizations of African Americans from violent crime which include the following; rape/sexual assault, robbery, aggravated and simple Assault was 24.3% in 2007, with the highest percentages of victimizations within the age ranges of 15-24 totaling a percentage greater than 38%.”

In any case, Blacks aren't the only perpetrators or victims of crimes. One factor in discussions, commonly concerning terrorism, is the use of “Racial profiling”, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_profiling , which may not only help prevent crime by identifying perpetrators, but may also help serve the greatest percentage of victims, which, in New York City's case, happens to be the same demographic with relatively the same percentage.

Racial profiling is the little bastard child of today's standard police procedures that is neither acknowledged and publicly embraced, nor relatively abandoned. It's more commonly known today as “fitting the description”.

But, as long as it's a “hush-hush” subject, far from the demonizing light liberals would cast on it, it can be acceptable by those who need to depend on it's obscured status, both the wolf and the sheep.
