My Message to Those Claiming Obama’s Betrayed His Promises

I think Obama deserves a huge chunk of the criticism he's gotten. He pushes the immediacy of certain legislation (stimulus package as the biggest f-up so far) and then turns around and says give it time and he's only been in office a very short time. That's a lot of BS.

He has betrayed his promises but then all politicians do. People are idiots for voting for someone believing all that crap and, unfortunately, a large percentage of his voters did just that.
  • Let's see what we have:

    --Upholding illegal wiretaps indefinitely
--Not closing Guantanamo at least til 2012 (refer to approps cmtte)
--Not allowing 5 days of public comment on all legislation (SCHIP, Credit Card Bill, Ledbetter Act, and most importantly Cap and Trade (which wasn't even complete and in the House well when voted on)
--Sending troops to Afghanistan and funding a war there (which Bush was crucified for in Iraq)

The list will get longer as time goes on. That is a fact. And this was just things I could think of off the top of my head. He is a liar and a con. Your typical politician, only he's increasing the size and control of the federal government faster than any President in history.

If this Cap and Trade makes it through the Senate, then I sincerely worry for the complete collapse of America.
  • but what do ya ll want ?

You folks voted him in to be US president, which I suppose means, definding America's interests.

I can speak as an outsider; The presidents job is to look at all the competing ideas, and resolve it in the best interests of the nation.

If was one of your president that did say that if its presidential, it cannot be illegal....

The change you voted for here, is there is at least a decent thought-process going into decision making, and he is not exactly the idi0t your ex was.

Hope for the best; Its a desperate world out there.

You really aren't paying attention are you? Obama's Incredible
    Record Of Betrayal

    He hasn't changed anything
for the better, just sweet promises and a silver tongue. He's just the
spokesperson for the people who are really running the show. Just
watch, the end of his term and see if anything actually changes for
the better. Myself and others saw the handwriting on the wall before
he even took office, what he voted for and who he supports and who
supports him and the voters that voted for him there are many still at
large that are just glassy eyed and still don't get it. I just find it hard to believe you still refuse to see what is going on. It's been five months, If he hasn't started by now he won't.

Well said. An instant culture wants instant results, which is absurd. I'm also sure that there are realities that he didn't know about (and the public still doesn't know about) that has influenced his reversal on certain things. Wire tapping being one of those. The difference for me is that I have more trust in him, which I didn't have in Bush. But at the end of the day, they're all crooks and liars to some extent, I suppose.
  • Scooter
Actually he's been spot on and met every expectation I had for him. He's gone back on his word to open up government and publish all information to the public before signing anything, he's spent more money then any President in history, he's appointed more special interest evangelists to his cabinet then any other President and he's already begun the reverse discrimination tactics in his judicial appointments.

But then....as you said he's only been in office a few months so I'm sure the big disappointments are to come. :)
  • What about upholding illegal wire taps? Unless he changes course he is a major failure.
  • Agreed. I think he needs to give solid justification or discontinue them. Anything less and I call bullshit.

"Anything less and I call bullshit."

Less is happening, and as the days go on, we're getting less and less, more and more.

You should have already started calling bullshit, only it's now time to get louder and louder.

Anything less would be apologizing, or rationalizing, for him.
