How To Destroy America

Here is a scene that could give insight into what is wrong with this country and why this country is not only going to try destroy itself, but heading for a class war that may actually save it.

I took my truck to a car wash last weekend and as I was washing my truck, a new Acura TL pulls up to the front to vacuum the inside of the car. You might think to yourself, "Now there is a successful chap taking care of his nice car."

Nope, out comes a bunch of trash that proceed to blast the radio and give the impression you just transported to a slum in Mexico City. This is a car load of people who have never, and will never, ever contribute anything to society. They will only take. They have reached the pinnacle of their existence in this world. They have their Acura TL.

Unfortunately, this type of person is the majority of who is immigrating to this country. These people have been told after entering this country, "We don't want to offend you by requiring you to live by our rules and American culture", so feel free to conduct your life just as you would in the slum you came from. And they do. And they endeavor to make everything around them exactly what is was like from where they came. They have been told that it is more important to be "Mexican", or "African" or "Cuban" instead of being "American". If you did not come to America to be American, what did you come here for?

As people in America who want the American Dream and want to contribute to society begin to realize that their world is slowly turning into a slum with trash at every turn, this is when it will get ugly. No longer will hatred be limited to the stereotypical backwoods redneck, it will be mainstream and it will be nasty and it will be unifying. It will probably be the first time in ages that people of all races stand together to take back the American Dream for which they have worked so hard for.
  • So, note that if this is the path to destruction and Liberals are not touching, and in many cases fighting for it, is not the implied final statement the liberals are destroying America???

    Interesting is it not?

    Without mercy? Seriously?

I tried to post a response before I left for class this morning, but had trouble getting it posted .. don't know what the problem was. Anyway .. I agree with MOST of what is said in the speech. I think some of it is overstated. He says that it is good for individuals to be multilingual, but bad for a society. I agree with that COMPLETELY. But (and perhaps my own interpretation of diversity is different than his) he implies that diversity is bad. I disagree with this. Diversity is good .. but there is a time an a place to express differences. For example, some cultures have a very relaxed attitude about time ... starting times are goals rather than actual expected starting times. It is NOT acceptable (and let me just use a random example here) to a teacher for students of different cultures to treat the starting time of the class differently. Class starts at 8:00. Be there at 8:00 or risk offending that teacher (and being a distraction to the other students in the class). There is (and SHOULD be) a set of societal norms that allow us to function efficiently as a society. It is likely true that a different set of societal norms might work more or less as well. But it is NOT true that a "salad bowl" mix of societal norms works as well. On the other hand, it would be inappropriate for a teacher to be offended at behavior that does not interfere with the smooth and orderly operation of the class. A tattoo on the forehead (assuming that it doesn't distract the rest of the students) is not relevant to the operation of the class and the teacher shouldn't care about such things. (Of course a potential employer might well find the tattoo on the forehead to be a deal breaker .. and I can imagine MANY situations where that would be an appropriate decision.)

Each of us interacts with different pieces of society all the time, and we (most of us) have learned how to behave in various settings. We (most of us) don't go to a tranquil setting where people are enjoying the scenery and sounds of nature and play our boomboxes at full blast. We (most of us) don't talk on our cellphones in the theater (nor do we arrive 20 minutes late and disturb those who arrived on time as we look for seats). We also interact with the society of our friends. And, there may be (probably is) a wider range of acceptable behavior with our friends. It is here that diverse values, behaviors, etc. may be welcomed and celebrated. It goes to far to imply that diversity is bad.

As for the language issue .. I have believed since I was a teenager that English should be our national language (in fact, I was somewhat surprised at the time when I discovered that it wasn't ... not officially anyway). I remember quite clearly when pay phones changed their price from 10 cents to 25 cents (this may have just been in the Chicago area). The phone company was ordered to change the price back to 10 cents until they posted instructions regarding the increase in both English and Spanish. I thought (and still think) that this was absurd.

We do nobody any favors by making it easier for them to get by without learning English. (By the way, I'm all for having EMERGENCY services in multiple languages.) English is the language of our society .. communication in a society is crucial .. therefore it is important to be able to communicate in English. (I really don't see any logical error there.)

  • Rick,

The reason I said Republicans were responsible for making people cringe when they hear this language is because *they are the only ones using it.* Liberals tend not to touch this kind of language.

And you don't have to apologize for having a differing opinion, man. That's what this blog's for. :) Look at how Arik or Carl come at me; they attack without mercy, and that's how I like it. I know you guys are friends and that the point of the debate is growth, so I actually prefer that approach.

    Kind regards,

    -Daniel
  • I like the article. It is true... it is also a talking point for conservatives. I find the statement "Plus, the Republicans have made people cringe when they hear this kind of language because it's often associated with negativity and hate." This is your blog and I am not arguing your point but simply sharing with you my view point. I am an independent, socially/fiscally conservative, federalist. So, I am closest to the Rep's as far as the two big tickets. Well, at least historically. They have, however, drifted quite far in the last decade. Anyways, I would state that the liberals are the ones that have made it 'hateful' to say that the ethnic diversity is going to destroy us. Both parties are guilty for not fixing it, but I believe the push of 'tolerance' is from the Dem's, headed by the libs. I mean here in Nashville we have a big Rep base talk radio show and the local Dem Convention calls this guy a racist all the time. Anyways, the truth is in the original post. And it is one point. But if you really wanted to do a good study on the death of America then a study of Ancient Rome and Greece is in order. Corrupt senate, catering to minorities, welfare class, glorifying sports while diminishing the education system (mostly by making it a public 'service'), and adding comfort to the citizen to the point that they withdraw from politics, and not to mention the immigration issues.

    Well, have a good night.
    Rick
