Google Instead Of Local Applications?

The google doc editor has much to be desired.

It’s a good way to share ideas with other people or keep notes that you need ready access to, but I wouldn’t keep documents of any personal importance there.

I haven’t done much with a google spreadsheet, but then I don’t use many spreadsheets anyway.

I do, however, think it would be awesome to have an app that would sync your google calendar with your PDA.

Well, I was going to point out that Google already HAS email (and a calendar program as well), but you beat me to it. The direction of the future is likely to follow the server-client model at least to an extent. (I don’t think this is a surprise .. it seems that I’ve been hearing talk of this for MANY years now.) That many of the applications might be “free” (not counting the cost of seeing advertisements) is something that I’m not sure was anticipated 15 years ago.
