Just as a small point, extensions aren't official in the Windows version of Chrome yet, either. They're only in the dev version.

The speed of Chrome, especially its Javascript engine, is unmatched. I do all of my development in Chrome these days and only fall back to Firefox and IE after I have stabilized behavior in Chrome. I do still use Firefox frequently for the Firebug extension. Also, the DOM viewer in the Windows version is not yet present in Linux, which is where I develop.

I stand corrected, the new beta for Linux does have the developer tools.

My understanding is that extensions are in the beta version for Linux and Windows, but only the dev channel for Mac.
