I have been subitting my own content to Digg and Propeller for a while now and see nothing wrong with it. Does anybody know, if you get banned because somebody without a life complains about spamming, will this effect your Google ranking?

This is a very encouraging post. You've explained my thinking in a very eloquent manner. I'll be remembering your arguments here the next time this came up.

I took your advice and submitted my latest post to reddit, and I got around 30 unique hits–that's pretty good around my lonely corner of the web!

I totally agree with your comments, as a major website owner, I employ some great writers and WE DO submit our own articles to ezine publication sites and we do Digg our own content.

Great article, keep the content coming :)

Great article. I never really considering self-submitting my own stuff always felt kinda pompous about it. Will do in the future.

Day traders and investors are considered as different segments in stock market but awareness is still everything while doing share trading. Day traders should focus on stock research before executing any order in NSE or BSE

I think as long as my article is not a sales pitch, advertising, and provide useful content it is okay to submit my own work which help people solve a “Specific” problem like “cleaning a PC's monitor”

It is sad some people choose to be ignorant, and not learn what real spam actually is since there are plenty of resources like Wikipedia which tells people what is spam? Plus, I don't get why people hate ads online so much since ads are found on newsprint, TV, radio, and billboards. People need to realize website owners need to pay the bills like everyone else.

I think the chances of someone submiting your article out of kindness to Social websites are slim for new writers since it takes a bit of time to write a title, description, and tags for the submission. Plus, the bookmarker have to pick a category, and picture in some cases.

Plus, most people do not see tangible reward like money, fame, etc for submiting others article out of good will in most cases, so most people won't submit your article to digg.

By taking material from someone else one might risk having duplicate content on their site which is not good. Therefore I think it's better to rewrite any piece of news and make it an original piece of text.
