By Solid he means able to edit it with a text editor and upload it. I do like to have structure but, I have used the apache trickery because I like my information to be in a database. I like it to be easly backed up. It just all works for me. We all are different.
  • There are a few reasons. Most importantly, I don't like archiving static content, i.e. tutorials and such as text in a database. There's just something about it that bothers me. It just doesn't feel tangible to me -- like I can't completely "touch" it. I know it's weird, but that's how I feel.

Plus, URLs are important to me -- explicit location information. My previous method was to use Apache trickery to get entries in the database to look like "urls", i.e. /study/nmap, but they really weren't. There never was, until last night, a directory called "study" on my webserver. I dislike that, and prefer it to be "real".

More than anything it's a feel issue for me. I just prefer my non-blog content to be "solid".
  • So what is your reason for this conversion from using wordpress to generate your static pages?
