Cheerleaders Make The Best Saleswomen

I used to be a cop in a small college town. I was NOT a Campus cop, I was a cop for the city. Just felt like I needed to clarify.

Anyway, we had this unspoken rule we would joke about when giving tickets to females. We joked how we always gave the pretty girls tickets and the less attractive girls we would let go. Why this thinking? Because pretty girls already have it easy enough that they deserve some humbling and the less attractive girls have it rough already, so the last thing they need is something else to ruin their day.

I can’t tell you how many people abided by that, because let’s face it, you’d much rather have a hot girl be happy with you than mad at you. Just in case on that random off chance you ever run in to her somewhere out in public, she might repay the favor. ahhh, but I digress…

Exactly, I’m sure that was the pact, but when it came to the hottie on the side of the road flirting with you guys to get out of the ticket…I’m betting most of you wilted (so to speak).

Hi, Daniel. Thanks for linking to Brazen Careerist.

It might be consoling to know that the positive psychology movement would say that cheerleaders are successful not because they’re good looking but because they are optimistic. And it’s a lot easier for us to become optimists than to become cheerleaders :)

I’m sure positive attitude is part of it, but if you think men go to Hooters in order to admire positive attitudes then you’re deluding yourself. :)

I’d argue that there’s a contrary phenomenon afoot as well, namely that good looking people never develop alternative methods of manipulation ( cajole, fool, manipulate, shame, etc. ) nor do they develop skills like reading “is the cop buying this?” or truly “acting”.

As the youth factors wear off, the ability to slide on looks shortens and the less-stellar but more clever ( see Cleopatra ) actually get respect from men and know how to manipulate populations of them versus the sole cop, bouncer, etc.

And FWIW, Hooters sucks. It always struck me as the worst of both worlds. Bad wings and not really an effective house of prurient interest. It least at Bone Daddy’s the ribs are good or the Texas Roadhouse they do a boot dance on the half hour.
