An Indian Outsourcing Musing

As with many others in IT, I’m noticing that Indian developers and other IT workers are becoming larger and larger parts of American IT workforces. And this is for good reason: I have found most Indian IT workers I’ve dealt with to be bright, positive, and to have an extraordinary work ethic. The fact that they can often be procured for much less than an American worker is a bonus that makes the decision quite easy for management.
But this raises an interesting question. As I noticed more and more of the IT department becoming Indian at my particular corporation, I wondered if this would affect the general IT approach to outsourcing–especially to India.
In other words, if a significant portion of your IT workforce is Indian–including much of the management–are they still going to be in favor of outsourcing to India? At what point do the desires to bring in more Indian workers (due to the reasons I mentioned earlier) going to be offset by the desire to protect a local, in-house IT staff? ::
