I work with a designer who refuses to learn PHP or Javascript -- which are two languages that my company uses extensively on our projects. This makes any UI design difficult because all he wants to do is go on and on about typography, color, CSS, etc. (which are all awesome, don't get me wrong), but he won't soil his hands with even the basic programming skills necessary to make his UIs work. His background is print, so I can understand why he would be adverse to learning some basic programming, but are professional designers typically like this?
