A New Domain — Possibly

Well, I’ve just registered grepunderstanding.com; I had the thought just this morning and was happy to find it uninhabited. Was wondering what you guys thought about dumping dmiessler.com and going with that instead. In actuality I’d still be pointing dmiessler.com to the new domain, but the new one would show up in the browser.

Do you guys think it’s better to have a domain that doesn’t reference my name, or do you think it’s too late to change it at this point? I’m torn. I like the idea of a neutral domain based on my little catch phrase “grep understanding knowledge”, but at the same time I like the idea of keeping the domain name I’ve had since 1999.

Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Well, if you’re starting a poll, I’ll chime in:

    Do whatever you’d like … it makes no difference to me. I like the new domain name, but there’s something to be said about keeping an established one as well. Having a domain name with your REAL name is a good thing, but there’s something to be said for having a catchy domain name.

    here’s my suggestion:

    Keep the old domain and put your blog on it

    Get the new domain and put studies/howtos/etc on it.
