A Character Mapping and Encoding Primer
By Daniel Miessler on February 23rd, 2009: Tagged as Technology

I’ve finally finished my latest study piece on character mapping and encoding. The goal of the piece is to either familiarize or re-familiarize one to the numerous character encoding schemes out there, e.g. ASCII, Code Maps, Unicode, UCS, ISO 8859, etc. in a single page.
My goal is for someone to be able to read this resource and say, “Oh, now I get it”. And if a refresher is ever required on a certain idea it should be a quick touch to get back to grok.
As always, comments are welcome. I would really like to know if I made any mistakes (likely, but hopefully no bad ones) and/or if anything could be made more clear. Also, this post will serve as the location for comments related to the article, as the content itself is not served from within my blog. ::
