6 Steps To Getting The Most From Your iPhone Battery

  • Not to interrupt, but LiPoly batteries, such as the iPhone's, gain nothing from being fully discharged for every time you want to charge them. Running a deep cycle every now and then is a good idea to calibrate the charge prediction, but after that, you're just draining your battery for no reason.

LiPoly/LiIon batteries have no memory effect (NiCd rechargables have that problem). In fact, if you believe the manufacturers, LiPoly lifetime measured in charge cycles is not how often you start charging the battery, but how much energy you charge back into it. EG, if your battery's life is rated at 100 cycles, you can charge it 100x from completely drained to completely full, or 1000x from 90% to 100%. YMMV, but that's the gist of it.
