Google’s Chrome browser is fast becoming the browser for those in the know1. Already legendary for its simplicity and speed, here are 5 newer features in Chrome that are worth taking note of.
1. Acknowledgment of the Flash Cookies Problem
Most people don’t know about the fact that you can clear your cookies and cache but still have tracking tokens on your system–all thanks to Flash. Well, with Google’s help, that will soon be common knowledge.
Chrome puts a link to how to the fix right on the ‘Clear Browsing Data’ page:

2. Phenomenal Security
No browser is invulnerable, but Chrome has continually bested its competitors in the Pwn2Own hacking contest.
The Pwn2Own competition in Vancouver is a yearly demonstration of the software industry’s utter inability to keep its products safe from determined hackers. This year, researchers cracked Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, and Safari in minutes, winning $10,000 each, bragging rights and the hardware those applications were running on.
But more notable is the one survivor of the competition’s browser category: Google’s Chrome.
For the second year in a row, Chrome has left the Pwn2Own competition unscathed even as all of its competitors have been compromised. [forbes.com]
3. Automatic Page Language Translation

For those who require reading content in another language the difference between translation being seamless vs. a chore is considerable.
4. Superior Extensions

Google wasn’t the first to do extensions, but their implementation is by far the best.
- Chrome extensions don’t slow down your browsing
- They don’t make your browser unstable
- There’s an impressive (and growing) selection.
- Listed here are Pagerank, StumbleUpon, Firebug, Web Developer, Bit.ly, and Proxy Switcher.
5. Stunning [Native] Developer Tools
The quality of the Chrome’s native developer tools is truly making everyone else look bad.
